This airplane is a Hamilton Metalplane H-45 (S/N 56; ATC # 85) manufactured in November 1928 by the Hamilton Metalplane Company, Milwaukee, WI. It landed once at Parks Airport, on Sunday, December 8, 1929. It was flown by Marion Sterling, based at Pontiac, MI. He cited his destination as Brownsville, TX. He did not indicate whether he was carrying passengers.

In 1930, NC134E was sold to Northwest Airways, Inc., St. Paul, MN. It operated with Northwest for about seven years. With Northwest, NC134E was equipped with skis, as shown in the following photograph from the Spring, 2012 issue of the Journal of the American Aviation Historical Society (JAHHS).

After its tenure with Northwest, NC134E was then exported and registered in Panama. During WWII it was impressed into service on August 14, 1942 by the U.S. Army Air Corps. On August 24, 1943 it was condemned.

Besides its landing at East St. Louis, it landed earlier at the Davis-Monthan Airfield Wednesday, February 6, 29. It also landed once at Clover Field three days later on Saturday, February 9, 1929. Both landings were piloted by Marion Sterling (same pilot; same itinerary?). The full technography for NC134E is online at the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register Web site at the link.
