TRAVEL AIR NC9912

NC9912, S/N 1122, was a Travel Air model 2000 that was modified to a model 4000. It landed twice at Parks Airport. The first landing was on Friday, July 4,1930 at 6:00PM. The second was on Saturday, Friday June 9, 1931 at 9:40AM. Both landings were flown by William A. Miller, based at Wood River, IL.

The airplane was operated by Parks Air College as a trainer. The photograph below is from the St. Louis University Digital Collection (SLUDC), dated 1930. The photograph information at the link states, "People inspecting the remains of a Parks College crashed airplane. Included in the group are students from Parks College...."

The damage looks like a landing gone wrong, with wings striking the ground. Unless the online photo information is wrong, because it was logged in the Parks Airport Register in June 1931, the airplane was repaired to fly again.

This is corroborated by the FAA online registry database. An airworthiness certificate for NC9912 was issued December 3, 1975 to an owner in Tolleson, AZ. However, it was cancelled December 1, 2014. Although cancelled, it was immediately reserved, but not assigned, with the reservation expiring December 1, 2019. This sounds like the airplane might still be in existence.

I have no other information about this airplane. If you can help fill in the blanks, please let me KNOW.
