The Parks Airport Register gives us vignettes of aviation events that swirled around the United States during the Golden Age. Air races and tours, military logistical maneuvers and aviation firsts passed through. The first, 1929 Gardner Trophy Race was held at St. Louis sponsored by Oliver Parks, founder of the Airport. Most of the participants in the race, including the ultimate winners, are logged in the Register.
The 1929 National Air Races were cause for several airplanes to land from August 22-24. Among them was a majority of the female pilots who signed the Register. This was the first year women were allowed to complete in the NAR, which flew from Los Angeles to Cleveland that year.
